Living Like a Pig « Result #1 on Feb 27, 2009, 8:31pm »
One day, a guru foresaw in a flash of vision what he would be in his next life. So he called his favorite disciple and asked him what he would do for his guru in return for all he had received. The disciple said he would do whatever his guru asked him to do. Having received this promise, the guru said, "Then this is what I'd like you to do for me. I've just learned that when I die, which will be very soon, I'm going to be reborn as a pig. Do you see that sow eating garbage there in the yard? I'm going to be reborn as the fourth piglet of its next litter. You'll recognize me by a mark on my brow. When that sow has littered, find the fourth piglet with a mark on its brow and, with one stroke of your knife, slaughter it. I'll then be released from a pig's life. Will you do this for me?"
The disciple was sad to hear all this, but he agreed to do as he had promised.
Soon after this conversation, the guru did die. And the sow did have a litter of four little pigs. One day, the disciple sharpened his knife and picked out the fourth little pig, which did indeed have a mark on its brow. Just as he was about to bring down his knife to slit its throat, the little pig suddenly spoke. "Stop! Don't kill me!" it screamed.
Before the disciple could recover from the shock of hearing the little pig speak in a human voice, it said, "Don't kill me. I want to live on as a pig. When I asked you to kill me, I didn't know what a pig's life would be like. It's great! Just let me go."

Leather, NFL Regulation, 1963 Chicago Bears-Inscribe The year was 1964.wow power leveling, The place was Chicago. A man I worked with had acquired a couple of all-leather, NFL regulation, 1963 Chicago Bears-inscribed footballs and was selling them at a real good price. My first son was on the way. I bought the football. I had my son's "coming home from the hospital" gift, and it was something truly special. Several years later, young Tom was rummaging around in the garage as only a five- or six-year-old can rummage when he came across the all-leather, NFL regulation, 1963 Chicago Bears-inscribed football. He asked if he could play with it. With as much logic as I felt he could understand, I explained to him that he was still a bit too young to play carefully with such a special ball. We had the same conversation several more times in the next few months, wow power leveling, and soon the requests faded away.
The next fall, after watching a football game on television, Tom asked, "Dad, remember that football you have in the garage? Can I use it to play with the guys now?"
Eyes rolling up in my head, I replied, "Tom, you don't understand. You don't just go out and casually throw around an all-leather, wow gold,NFL regulation, 1963 Chicago bears-inscribed football. I told you before; it's special."
Eventually Tom stopped asking altogether. But he did remember, and a few years later he told his younger brother, Dave, about the all-leather, NFL regulation, 1963 Chicago Bears-inscribed football that was special and kept somewhere in the garage. Dave came to me one day and asked if he could take that special football and throw it around for awhile. It seemed like I'd been through this before, but I patiently explained, once again, that you don't just go out and throw around an all-leather, NFL regulation, wow power leveling, 1963 Chicago Bears-inscribed football.
But it wasn't special anymore.
I stood alone in the garage. The boys had long since moved away from home, and suddenly I realized that the football had never been so special at all. Children playing with it when it was their time to play is what would have made it special. wow gold,I had blown those precious, present moments that can never be reclaimed, and I had saved a football. For what?
I took the football across the street and gave it to a family with young kids. A couple of hours later I looked out the window. They were throwing, catching, kicking and letting skid across the cement my all-leather, wow gold,NFL regulation, 1963 Chicago Bears-inscribed football.
My Dad, My Source for Healing « Result #3 on Feb 10, 2009, 9:39pm »
I have been gobbling up your stories for years. I own all your books (and the game, too). I love what each story has to offer in its meaning and new perspective on life. I would like to take the opportunity to share what got me through a difficult breakup in high school-my dad. When most of my friends were bickering with their fathers, wow power leveling I was looking to mine for guidance. He knows more about me than anyone, even myself at times. He travels for work and so he's gone a lot. Most people assume we have a distant relationship because he's not home very often. But we thrive under this situation because we talk every night by phone, and he makes his support known when he can't be present. One night my world just collapsed, and it was my dad who was able to pick up the pieces. My first true love called from a party and broke my heart. He offered little explanation and this made the situation all the more difficult to accept In that one quick phone call I lost my boyfriend and best friend, wow gold a comfort I had enjoyed for the past year and a half. I was sure I was the most miserable fifteen?year?old in the world-lost and lonely. It felt like everyone else's life could just continue on in its normal way, but mine couldn't. I would no longer spend hours on the phone with him each night, and his house would no longer be my home away from home. I was forced to deal with my regular routine on Monday morning, as Mom went to work, Dad flew out on business and I went to school. Dad wouldn't return until Friday. I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to face everyone and their gossip at school. I was right: the questions and the whispering started around second period. I returned home from school feeling completely defeated.wow power leveling All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and wallow in my own self?pity. I pulled back the covers on my bed and discovered a pile of cards left by my dad. I recognized the "calligraphy" instantly. Each card included an instruction that it was to be opened on a particular night that week. He was halfway across the country and still my dad was able to show he cared. I made it through that week because of him.wow gold Each card seemed to say just what I needed to hear. Tuesday's card said, "The past is painful to think about and the future is impossible to envision. Don't try. Just take it one minute at a time." On Wednesday my mood lifted when I read, "What you are feeling now is natural and normal. It still feels lousy, but it is part of the healing process." Friday's card contained a poem he wrote. The last lines made me smile through my tears.wow gold "Whatever special challenges you face along life's way/May you trust that you will find the best in every day." I was instructed to open the last card after the party I went to on Saturday night. In it he sagely reminded me to laugh. "The world isn't so bad after a good laugh. The more you laugh, the more you heal."wow power leveling Each card was signed, Love, Dad. Even just flipping through the cards made me feel better in the weeks to come. I looked through them most days until I started to forget about them. It was then that I knew that I was healing

I mostly blame the director for a lot of the problems. I mean I've personally had a vendetta against Francis Lawrence, ever since Constantine, where he turned a British, blond, con-man who looks remarkably like Sting, into a gun-toting Keanu Reeves. Not to mention they had Shia LaBeouf play what was suppose to be a 40 year old. Then to top things off they changed London to L.A. and the pronunciation of Constantine, and made the whole magic thing to very straight forward just Christianity.
Anyway. The point of rambling is to point out that Francis Lawrence (the director of I Am Legend and Constantine) is very bad at creating adaptations.

Really, really, really disappointed. Though I knew since I learned that they changed Vampires to vampire zombies, I knew it was already doomed.
First off, I'm going to look at this as someone who knew it wasn't going to be like the book, and thus temporarily lowering my standards on good.
Sure the effects were pretty, but I don't buy comic books for the art, though it is a fact it is all about the story. I will admit some of the effects were cool and the deserted New York was pretty.
I loved how the majority of the dialog was Will Smith talking to his dog, which was both amusing and tragic and I loved how it showed his heavy descend from sanity, as proven through the scenes with the mannequin.
A side from a lot of very obvious plot holes such as when the Vampire Zombie dogs were waiting for the sun to go down to kill Neville, when the leader was there and had proven to be able to survive the sunlight for a limited amount of time and could have easily killed Neville himself.
My biggest complaint, was the title. I am Legend was not an adaptation of the Matheson's book nor did it have anything to do with Neville becoming a legend. Now I know Jack will probably like to disagree with this as they call him a legend in the movie when Anna says something like, "He saved us. That was his legend."
The word she was looking for was Legacy. Not Legend. A legend is a story that may or may not have been extrapolated from a real event. The legend in the actual book involved Neville looking back over the past before he was executed and he was about to take some suicide pills, he realized that now vampires, which the world believed were just a legend, were now the dominant species and the dominant society too. And now the last surviving human who slaughtered their kind and was immune to thing they weren't, was now taking their place as the true legend. That explanation cannot do the ending of the book justice. But, the explanation itself was a whole lot better than the crappy Hollywood ending of the world living happily-ever-after.

Don't expect me to be on alot or ranked high, I have dial up internet and don't have any real way to get on other than going to my friends houses. I use it mainly for playing Halo which we can both enjoy on the same system.
